This is a research site devoted to Pedagogy and Community Engagement with local neighbourhoods, boroughs, and municipalities as part of both academic instruction and practice-based Art and Design. Researchers highlighted at Design for Inclusion include architects, graphic designers, urban planners and community activists as well as professors of design from Canada, USA, and elsewhere. While there are many working definitions for inclusive design, the designers on this platform refer to a well-regarded definition developed by the international Inclusive Design Institute (IDI) based at OCAD University, Toronto Canada.
"Inclusive design is design that considers the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and other forms of human difference. Designing inclusively results in better experiences for everyone."
-J. Treviranus, Founder, Inclusive Design Institute, Toronto Canada.

“It was nice to see everyone coming together to solve problems that not many people take time to figure out. I think that workshops like these [DM2020] enable us and make us feel that our voice does matter”
- T. Alexander, photographer and artist, Toronto.
